From the Richmond Dispatch, 11/6/1860, p. 1, c. 7
The Encampment. – The troops of cavalry who are to go into encampment will reach the city to-morrow, and proceed directly to Camp Lee. Everything has been done to ensure the success of the affair, as well as the comfort of the soldiers. We are informed that a trumpet band and a field band will be spared to render the place attractive to the public.
Mr. S. S. Cottrell, of this city, who has supplied accoutrements to several of the companies, has presented to each of the following a splendid saddle, which is to be contested for by the men, Governor's Guard, Henrico Dragoons, Hanover Troop, Goochland Troop, Powhatan Troop, and Chesterfield Troop. - The contest will be an interesting one.
The Richmond and Fredericksburg Railroad Company will run trains of cars to and from the camp, and thousands will avail themselves of the opportunity to go and see the troops on duty.
