…The Tredegar iron works at Richmond, Virginia, now employ 1300 men, have invested $1,000,000 and their contracts for iron cars extend through eighteen months. We need not be impatient. The South prospers and the only possible danger consists in calamities like that which the Radical despot at Washington inflicts upon hapless South Carolina.
