From the Richmond Dispatch, 4/9/1863, p. 1, c. 5
Asking for a Reprieve. – Capt. A. C. Webster, who is condemned to be hung to-morrow, a few days since sent a communication to Gen. Winder, asking that officer to intercede with the Secretary of War and have his execution delayed for a short time, owing to his present painful physical condition. – Preparations are being made for his execution. The gallows was put up at Camp Lee yesterday. – It will be remembered that Webster injured himself in a recent attempt to escape from prison.
