ESCAPED FROM THE CASTLE. – On the 14th instant, as our readers may recollect, Augustus C. Hafner and George Baker, two youths, charged with stealing twelve silver watches from L. Aaronhine, were committed to Castle Thunder to await further examination. Not fancying their new quarters, however, the boys waited only for the approach of darkness to effect their escape, and in less than twenty-four hours from their committal were again at large.
The Castle appears to be a very unsafe prison, and what prisoners remain within its walls seem to do so voluntarily. Can not the authorities find some more secure place of confinement for criminals?
