A Historic Mansion to Become a Club House.
The splendid old mansion and lovely grounds on Church Hill, Richmond, Va., owned during her life by Miss Lizzie Van Lew, the noted Union spy, will become the home of the Virginia Club, a young social organization of the East End. The property was purchased for $13,000 cash, and the club will have the house thoroughly improved and go into it in the Fall.
The place is one of the most historic in the city, and has a secret chamber in which the Union soldiers were kept to prevent their detection and capture.
