Richmond Va Sept 1st/63

Surg. J. P.[sic] McCaw
Yours of the 31st ult. has been received, informing me that the ambulances have been in the habit of taking their passenger to No. 1 & No. 3 Divisions of your hospital under instructions from this hospital. If any such have been given, it was done without my knowledge and I am pleased that you have apprized me of this irregular distribution.

In compliance with your request I have instructed the Officer in Charge of the Ambulances to report all patients transferred from this hospital to Chimborazo at your Central Office.

Very Respectfully
    Yr Obt Servt
