Sentences Commuted. – Private John Gaylor, of Company D, 27th Va. Regiment, who was sentenced to be shot by Court-Martial for deserting from his company on the 25th of November last, has had his sentence remitted by the Secretary of War, who has ordered that he be restored to duty and his company. Private Wm. C. Smith, of Company E, 22d N. C., who was sentenced by Court-Martial to receive fifty lashes for desertion, has had his sentence commuted by the Secretary of War to imprisonment in Castle Thunder for one year.
